2004-2007 Sea Ray 200 Select Specs and Review [Video]

Manufactured in the mid-2000s, the Sea Ray 200 Select was a luxurious 21-foot bowrider fitted with MerCruiser sterndrive engines. Her family members were the more spacious 220 Select and the top-of-the-line 240 Select.

In this post, we’ll review the 21-footer Sea Ray runabout and its factory specifications.

2004-2007 Sea Ray 200 Select Review

Body and Features

Sea Ray manufactured the popular 200 Select bowrider from 2004 through 2007 without any significant changes.

She was almost the same size as the deck boat-style 200 Sundeck but enjoyed a more traditional bowrider architecture and features.

In terms of measurements, the 200 Select was exactly 21 feet long, 8 feet 5 inches wide, with a draft of 36.5 inches with the drive down.

Covered by a flawless gelcoat, her deep-V fiberglass hull had a 20-degree transom deadrise.

The claimed dry weight of the boat was 3,500 pounds, which increased up to the north of 5,000 pounds with liquids, basic gear, and a matching tandem-axle trailer.

Fitted with full wraparound seating, the forward lounge seated 2-3 people comfortably.

Protected by a tinted walk-through windshield, the cockpit came standard with a unique seating layout that became the distinguishing mark of the Select series.

This floorplan included a smaller, non-full-beam sun pad and a small bench seat, both located on the starboard side.

This lounge was completed with a port-side fixed aft bucket seat and a walk-thru transom passage.

Behind the consoles, the captain and his companion had two bolstered swivel bucket seats.

This standard floor plan could be opted for a full-beam sun pad and a full-beam bench seat just forward.

Both layouts were rated at 8 passengers or 1,100 pounds, but let’s face it, they were only comfortable for 5 adults.

Standard cockpit features included high-quality snap-in carpets, cushioned side panels, integrated beverage holders, grab handles, and a premium audio system.

You could also find a plethora of storage units nestled under the seats, swim platform, and consoles of the floor.

They were completed with a sizable glovebox and side panel storage.

Luxurious and exclusive, the glovebox lid, steering wheel, and dash were fitted with wood grain inserts and stainless-steel logos.

Covered by a small sun visor, the easy-to-read dash housed a tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, and multifunction gauge.

Captains also appreciated the sizeable side storage with a cup holder, flip-up seat bolster, and the power and tilt steering.

Enjoying a neat integrated design, the spacious swim platform housed a starboard reboarding ladder, grab handle, ski hook, and a pressure release valve.

Engines and Performance

Just like most Sea Ray runabouts, the 200 Select was also designed with powerful and reliable MerCruiser sterndrive engines.

She came standard with the MerCruiser 4.3L MPI V6 Alpha I rated at 220hp.

However, the optional 5.0L MPI was far more popular, and with good reason.

This powerful V8 not only delivered a crisp 260hp along with plenty of torque but also could be opted for either Alpha I or Bravo III legs.

Depending on the load and environmental conditions, the top speed with this engine package was north of 50 mph.

Best cruising speed was close to 30 mph where the engine remained fairly quiet.

The 200 Select was also capable of fast turns and quick hole-shot acceleration, so she could tow wakeboarders and skiers with ease.

Her heavy, deep hull cut through a smaller chop with ease, offering a smooth cruising experience.

For more power, the boat could also be opted for the MerCruiser 5.7L 350 MAG rated at 300hp.

Takeaways

Manufactured between 2004 and 2007, the 200 Select was the most luxurious 21-foot bowrider in Sea Ray’s fleet.

(In 2007, this model was rebranded to the Select 210 without any significant changes.)

Designed with comfort and convenience in mind, she enjoyed many bells and whistles like wood grain inserts, premium snap-in carpets, high-quality upholstery, and more.

Due to these features and the rugged, well-designed body, the dry weight of the boat was 3,500 pounds.

Available engine packages included fuel-injected MerCruiser MPI sterndrives like 4.3L, 350 MAG, or the most popular 5.0L.

Even though she wasn’t built for high speeds, you could expect her top speed to be in the low 50s under ideal conditions.

Due to their durability and timeless design, these boats sell quickly on the second-hand market.

If you are looking for a used Sea Ray 200 Select for sale, be prepared to pay $10,000 – $20,000.

Asking prices vary greatly depending on year, engine option, condition, location, among many other variables.

Other 21-foot models were the much more lively 200 Sport and the aforementioned 200 Sundeck.

If you don’t want to just stick to the Select models, these variants are also worth a look!
