Sea Ray Laguna 21 CC Review
Hull and Top Deck
Sea Ray introduced the Laguna 21 CC as the mid-range model in the deservedly popular Laguna center console series.
Her closest family members included the 18-foot Laguna 18 and the 27-foot Laguna 27.
These models came in different sizes but shared the same deck architecture and most features.
In terms of dimensions, the overall length of the Laguna 21 was 20 feet 10 inches, which extended to 22 feet 8 inches with the standard bow pulpit.
Fitted with a standard engine package and features, the advertised dry weight of the boat was 2,670 pounds.
Considering the weight of a matching trailer, 70 gallons of fuel, and 13 gallons of fresh water, the trailering weight was around 4,500 pounds without any gear.
Depending on the amount of gear and options, this could easily translate into a gross weight of 5,000-6,000 pounds.
The 21 shared its center console floorplan with her 18-foot sibling but in a slightly larger version.
This interior layout included a solid center console with dual swivel helm seats, an optional T-top Bimini shade, storage lockers, a splash guard, a plexiglass windshield, grab rails, and an informative dashboard.
The latter enclosed the most important analog gauges, a switch panel, a compass, and an optional VHF radio.
Fitted with a seat cushion and a back bolster, the removable cooler offered some extra seating.
Fishermen valued the abundance of recessed rod racks, rod holders, dual drained forward fish boxes, the sink with a cutting board, an integral transom well, and dual port/starboard bail wells.
At the stern, you also had dual transom doors, an integral transom well, and a swim platform with a retractable ladder.
A self-bailing fiberglass cockpit floor, cockpit and navigation lights, grab rails, removable vinyl bolsters, mooring cleats, and eyelets all came standard.
Besides the aforementioned T-top canvas and VHF radio, other optional features included console and helm seat covers, live baitwell system, hour meter, audio system, seawater wash down, dual batteries, bow cushions, and an auxiliary motor bracket came as options.
Engines and Performance
Unlike her larger siblings, the Laguna 21 was exclusively available with single outboard engine packages.
These offerings included a standard 2-stroke 150hp and an optional 225hp Mercury outboard motor.
Featuring a 2.4L V6 powerhead, the latter cruised the boat in the mid-30s and hit a top-end speed of 45-46 mph.
The hull’s high freeboard and deep-V profile offered great comfort and protection from the elements while the wide beam provided great stability.
